Leesville Lake and Smith Mountain Lake are part of Appalachian Power Company’s Smith Mountain Pumped Storage Project.
As such, they are regulated under Appalachian Power’s Shoreline Management Plan. Construction activities within the project boundary, such as dock building, erosion control, and vegetation removal require a permit. Forms for the above can be obtained here.
Warning! If you cut your trees and other vegetation within the project boundary without a permit, your future permit requests will be withheld until you re-plant.
